"Every day the American economy is losing ground - not to mention high-tech jobs and technologies - to India and China because foreign-born entrepreneurs cannot secure a visa to stay in the US," he said.

Putting your policy where your mouth is - the US mulls entrepreneur visas...
There is many a slip etc... Especially given the economic situation (which necessitates that the Startupvisa.com website must mention "jobs" ueber alles although all of us who have worked with start-ups know that large numbers of jobs aren't exactly what start-ups are about but I digress). Fred Wilson has been writing about and advocating for a similar programme for a while now whereas Brad Feld articulated the idea of a "founders' visa" last year. The latter form gained traction commendably rapidly with help from Paul Kedrosky and others. The E visa assessment is one of the most welcoming (a PhD makes one eligible) and the EB mod seems like there will be overlap. In the current Congressional agenda, where will this fit? Remains to be seen. I like the speed with which this became mainstream but the legislative hurdles are yet to be negotiated..
